COMPAC, Gandia, Spain, introduces Obsidiana. a sustainable manufactured surface using up to 100% recycled glass.
The initial collection, Obsidiana Volcano, includes six designs — Light, Fog, Cloud, Grey, Pearl y Dark, and all of them have mass veins and move in shades of gray to black that will bring a distinctive touch to each space.
The surface has a crystalline-silica content of less than 7%, and can be fabricated using tools used for natural-stone work. The material is non-porous, and scores a MOHS rating of 6.
Paco Sanchis, CEO of COMPAC, says the material created from recycled glass is the beginning of a long journey that the company is making towards developing materials that create sustainable surfaces. Obsidiana is the first of many materials that respect and care for the environment, without having to compromise on the benefits of traditional materials.
